Vawdon Cup

Vawdon cup: *

The Vawdon Cup is a weekly competition conducted throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area catering to Open and Youth divisions. Games are played Friday nights, with the occasional double header format on a Sunday.

Divisions of Play for VC:

– Womens Opens (Premier league, Division 1, Division 2, Division 3)

– Mens Opens (Premier league, Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, Division 4)

– Mixed Opens

– Youth Girls (13-16 years)

– Youth Boys (13-16 years)

– All Abilities (Athlete living with a disability)

Timeline:

We anticipate this years competition will align closely with last years dates and format; The 2025 competition ran from on Friday, Sept 12 and finished on Sunday, November 2 across 5 round match dates (double headers each week) & 2 weeks of finals progressions.

The club is planning around this expected time frame with NSW Touch to confirm dates for play in near future.

Expected commitment

  • Optional fitness: weekly from June
  • Programs Pre-Season: 2x sessions from July (Wed & Sunday)
  • Team training: 2x sessions weekly in addition to games. Tuesday & Sunday

Player Requirements

  • Complete the Player Expression of Interest form
  • When invited the Club Community WhatApp group

Selection

  • Players will be grouped into program squads (e.g. Womens Premiere League, Womens Div 1, Mens Div 1, Mens Div 4, Youth 1, Youth 2)
  • Round-to-round selection (by coaches) is based on:
    • Attendance
    • Skill
    • Availability
    • Attitude
  • Maximum: 14 players per team, per game

Eligibility

  • As per NSW Touch clause in the conditions of entry – all representative players must be a registered participant in their clubs social competition; Norths Touch social competitions (Artarmon Reserve)
  • Must adhere to club deadlines and guidelines
  • Must be fully financial

Senior State Cup

Divisions of play:

  • Womens Opens  (16 years +)
  • Mens Opens   (16 years +)
  • Under 20’s Boys (14 years +)
  • Under 20’s Girls (14 years +)
  • Mixed Opens   (16 years +)
  • All Abilities (All ages, athletes living with a disability)
  • Senior Divisions (Mens/ Womens): 27s, 30s, 35s, 40s, 50s

Timeline: 

  • Dates: Friday 4th- Sunday 6th of December 2026
  • Location: Port Macquarie
  • Note: Players must arrive in Port Macquarie by Thursday 3 December.  Most stay Sunday night to celebrate and travel home Monday.

Player Requirements

  • Men’s and Women’s players are encouraged to play Vawdon Cup (VC) to build team cohesion.
  • Players trialling who are not part of VC must complete the STAET CUP EOI form that will be circulated in SEPTEMBER 2026.

2026 Selection:

  • Programs divided into teams (eg: Women’s 1, Women’s 2, Men’s 1, Men’s 2)
  • Team Composition: 14 players per team + up to 3 staff per team.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a registered participant of Norths Touch social competitions
  • Must adhere to club deadlines and guidelines
  • Must be available for the full tournament weekend

Junior State Cup

Divisions of play: 

  • U10 Boys/ Girls
  • U12 Boys/ Girls
  • U14 Boys/ Girls
  • U16 Boys/ Girls
  • U18 Boys/ Girls

Timeline:

  • Event: Junior State Cup 2027
  • Dates: Friday 26-28th of February
  • Location: Dubbo
  • Trials: Scheduled for September 2026
  • Note: Players trialling must select their age group based on the age they turn in 2027

Training & Preparation

  • Open trials for each age group, all players attending trials must complete player Expression of interest form
  • Selected players train 1-2 times per week from September to December.  From December until Feb, all teams train twice weekly.
  • Teams will participate in Gala Days during summer holidays

Selection Numbers:

  • U10s: 12 players
  • U12 – U18: 14 players

Eligibility:

  • Must be a registered participant in Norths Touch social competitions
  • Must be available for the full tournament weekend
  • Must adhere to club deadlines and guidelines

All Abilities

The Bears Touch Footy Family continue to welcome all members of the community.  The All Abilities Touch Football team is a completely inclusive program that provides opportunities for people of all ages with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.  We invite these individuals to learn Touch Football skills as well as play the sport alongside their family members, carers, friends, elite footy players and the wider community.

This program also offers pathways for representative players in the Touch Football’s Inclusive Division competitions at Vawdon Cup, State Cup & National Touch lLeague.

The training details are as follows:

  • 5-6pm Wednesdays
  • Location: Artarmon Reserve








Development Opportunities and Pathways

Cubs Academy

Norths Touch offers “Cubs sessions”, a development program for young players throughout the year. These sessions are designed to build core skills and prepare players for future representative teams or introduce and up skill  players within our community in a fun environment.

Coaching Opportunities

All coaching applicants must:

  • Hold a Level 1 (Foundation) Coach Accreditation
  • Submit a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

The club supports coaches interested in completing the accreditation Level 1 course.  Applications are welcome for both senior and junior programs.
